VICTORY FOR TROUBLED YOUTH

    Greetings to all:

1.       We are in Murfreesboro, TN now…heading to Hastings, NE.  We’re parked at Bellwood Baptist Church, and when we got here yesterday I met a Messianic Jew.  We got to talking, and I believe he’s neither Messianic nor a Jew. He claimed he got “saved” about 10 years ago, but when I began to pin him down on that, he claimed he’s one of the chosen!  I smelled alcohol on him, so I pointed out that he appeared to be drinking.  I gave him Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Then he wanted to know if I was calling him unwise! I told him, No, but God is.  He left shortly after that.

2.       While we were home in Alabama, we went to the juvenile facilities there with my home church, Victory Baptist.  This past Sunday morning I was preaching at the one in Montgomery, and one of the boys appeared to nod off while I was preaching. But, when I gave the invitation, the boy sitting next to him nudged him and said, “It’s time to get saved!”  Well, it is. The scriptures are plain that today is the day of salvation.  None of us have tomorrow promised to us.  Not only is it the day of salvation, but anything that you plan to do for our Lord needs to begin today.  Tomorrow never comes.

3.       Also, we are able to get other works started while we were home. We had for some years tried to get a work going at the Albany RYDC in that city.  Pine Bluff Baptist Church, Pastor Keith Smith, have that work going now, and go twice a month.  Pray for them as they continue that work.  And, down in Thomasville, AL the HIT program there (High Intensity Training) has been taken by Walker Springs Road Baptist Church of Jackson, AL, Pastor David Webb. Pray for them as they do that work.

4.       As I mentioned in point 1 above we are on our way to Hastings, NE.  We’re going to be in a mission’s conference there October 8-12.  I have contacted several juvenile facilities in that state and have found at least 3 are open to the ministry.   One is in Lincoln, NE and the chaplain there is a King James Bible believing independent Baptist!  I’m to call him when I get into Hastings.   The facility is called the Lincoln Regional Center.  Pray that we can get work going there. Then in Hastings there is the Hastings Regional Center, and it may be open.  And, in Kearny, the Youth Rehabilitive Treatment Center may be open. Pray that these works ARE open, and that we can find churches to do the work.

5.       Finally, pray for us.  Sandy’s knee is still very painful.  Pray that it heals.  Pray for us as we travel…for traveling mercies, and to be able to afford the fuel.

Our contact info remains:  704 798 9906 for us.  Email is rs1611@mindspring.com for me.  Sandy’s is skays1952@mindspring.com.  Our website is www.savetheyouth.net .  Our sending church is Victory Baptist Church, Millbrook, AL.  Our pastor is Steve Sanders.  334 285 5082

Thank you for your support and prayers.  Ralph and Sandy Stokes
